With the onset of Covid-19, many communities saw an increase in the number of families struggling to afford basic-necessities. Realizing that so many in their community were suffering from food insecurity, Empowered Networks’ Waterloo, Ontario based team (Adam Fox, Chris Hindy, Jesse Jamieson, and Michael Ell) stepped up to offer their support to their local community food bank. The Food Bank of Waterloo Region is a remarkable organization that, just last year alone, helped over 33K individuals and over 11K children.
While food donations and volunteer help is valuable to The Food Bank, monetary donations are just as critical as they help to pay for fuel for trucks and materials required to keep The Food Bank facilities safe and secure, particularly during the Covid-19 crisis. It also enables The Food Bank to procure fresh food items for distribution as well. The Waterloo team came together to collectively donate $2,400. They were proud to support this grassroots organization when their resources are stretched to the limit.
